“I’m a trailer fanatic. If I need to go to my happy place, I just go to Apple Trailers. If I go to the movie and miss the trailers, I’ll be pissed at everyone who made me late,” Lake Bell told us in an interview earlier this year. And indeed, she’s taken that passion for those two-minute bursts of advertising to make her featuring length directorial debut “In A World…” and it looks like a charmer.
Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it certainly was a highlight. Taking the trifecta of writer/actor/director, Bell leads the movie as an up-and-coming voiceover artist and daughter of a famous movie trailer voice who looks to take the reins from her Dad in the industry. But of course there are comic complications, but it all seems to take place in a refreshingly unique setting. Out in Park City, we called it “an endearing comedy and a promising debut” and it’s one you’ll be able to catch soon.
Co-starring Demetri Martin, Nick Offerman, Eva Longoria and more, “In A World…” opens later this year.
