Besties forever, until you’re not, right? “Life Partners,” an indie film which debuted earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival (read our review) is essentially about the co-dependency of best friends and what happens when one half of a long term duo gets coupled up? So in “Life Partners,” you have two best friends, played by Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs, who are attached at the hip. But as they approach their thirties, Jacobs’ character finds a boyfriend (Adrien Brody), which changes their dynamic… potentially forever.
Here’s the official synopsis:
At 29, the most long-term relationship Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) have ever been in is with each other, using their co-dependent friendship as an excuse not to venture out into the dating world alone. But when Paige meets nerdy Tim (Adam Brody) and starts to get serious for the first time, the nature of their friendship begins to shift. Fearing she’s being cast aside, Sasha tries to keep their relationship the same, but does growing up also mean growing apart?
Directed by Susanna Fogel, the film also stars Kate McKinnon and Gabourey Sidibe. Magnolia Pictures will release “Life Partners” on iTunes / VOD November 6, 2014 and in theaters December 5. Check out the new poster and watch the first trailer below.
