Watch: First Trailer For Matt Reeves' 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' With Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman & More

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

We’ll be the first to admit that prior to “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes” we were basically expecting something along the lines of this. But Rupert Wyatt defied expectations, and the rather limp marketing campaign, and delivered one of the most satisfying summer movies in years. His effort was lean, smart and a riff on an existing franchise that felt fresh, without ever being too self-serious. In short, it was a success. But can Matt Reeves—who also worked the impossible with his excellent “Let Me In,” a remake of the already solid “Let The Right One In“—pick up the ball and run with it? We’re about to find out.

The first trailer for “Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes” is here to tease what’s coming next summer. Yes, there will be more apes. There will also be a stellar cast including Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, Karin Konoval, and Judy Greer. Here’s the synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

“Dawn Of The Planet Of Apes” hits on July 11, 2014. Watch below.
