Watch: First Trailer For Rock Doc 'Cobain: Montage Of Heck' Brings Teen Spirit

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck“Roughly 85% of the material that audiences will see in ‘Montage of Heck’ has never been seen or rarely seen. This includes several audio cues, portions of a recorded autobiography, a Cobain cover of The Beatles And I Love Her,’ extensive home movies of Kurt’s childhood, and never before seen interviews with Kurt’s father, mother, and sister. The film also features never before seen footage of Kurt at home with Courtney and Frances,” director Brett Morgen told Yahoo. So if you’re wondering why the world needs another document of the explosive, tragic life of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, now you know, and the first trailer for "Cobain: Montage Of Heck" has arrived, and promises plenty of teen spirit.

Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January, we called the documentary "seriously entertaining and enjoyable, but also a moving portrait of a man that many won’t soon forget." Chronicling Cobain’s life from his youth all the way up to his suicide attempt in Rome, one month before he would kill himself in his home, Morgen’s film might be the most complex and intimate look at the musician yet, given the kind of access no one else has been given. But at the same time, it’s an honest portrait, one that highlights both his best and worst traits.

"Cobain: Montage Of Heck" opens in the U.K. on April 10th. HBO will air the doc stateside on May 4th. Watch below.
