There’s probably no real reason for a “Ted 2” movie to exist, but if our choices were another Seth MacFarlane Western or a sequel to his crude but funny comedy about a man and his potty-mouth Teddy Bear fixed on making as many insufferable 1980s references as possible, we’d take the former. But considering “Ted” made $549 million, making for one of the highest all-time grossing R-Rated comedies worldwide, it’s understandable why Universal and MacFarlane dipped back into this well.
The movie once again stars Mark Wahlberg and the voice of Seth MacFarlane as the over-sexed and bawdy Ted. It’s funny how comedies tend to discard their female characters in the sequel even though they’re usually the ones that keep the dickhead from going off the rails in the original movie. But in “Ted 2” Amanda Seyfried is the female lead. Is Mila Kunis kicked to the curb? It’s hard to say because she’s apparently in the movie too, but for how long is unclear.
“Ted 2” also co-stars Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Dennis Haysbert, and Jessica Barth. Footballer Tom Brady is apparently going to appear as a potential sperm-donor as the movie evidently has a plot that revolves around fertility and Ted’s desire to have a baby. Here’s the official synopsis which doesn’t tell you anything:
Seth MacFarlane returns as writer, director and co-star of "Ted 2," Universal and Media Rights Capital’s follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow "Ted" writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark.
“Ted 2” lands in theaters June 26. Watch the first trailer below and check out the poster with the har-har sex joke in it below. Update: A new Super Bowl Big Game spot below too.
