Watch: First Trailer & Poster For Brad Pitt WWII Drama' Fury' Co-Starring Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman & More

Brad Pitt, Fury' WWII and Brad Pitt. It’s been done before, notably in Quentin Tarantino’s reimagined WWII drama, “Inglourious Basterds,” but Pitt didn’t really see a lot of combat. Maybe action was the impetus of the actor starring in “Fury” a WWII movie directed by David Ayer that’s a Band-Of-Brothers-esque drama of troops in a tank. Will it be as self-contained as say 2009’s claustrophobic tank drama, “Lebanon” which won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival that year? Well, Sony has unleashed the first trailer and it certainly looks different, which certainly isn’t a bad thing.

“I promised my crew a long time ago I would keep them alive,” Pitt narrates. He plays Wardaddy, a tank sergeant commanding over crew played by Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and "The Walking Dead" star Jon Bernthal (Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood also co-star).

Apparently the movie is supposed to be more character study than WWII drama, but I suppose we’ll see. David Ayer has yet to make a great film (though “Training Day” is pretty entertaining), but he came pretty close with “End Of Watch” that featured terrific performances out of Michael Peña and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The movie is about Sherman tank called "Fury" and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. The movie opens October 24 in the U.K. which is probably why we have the trailer so early. The movie comes out in the U.S. on a potentially more Oscar-friendly November 14. Check out the new trailer below, plus the new moody and evocative poster.
