“Bloodline” could have been one of Netflix’s greatest shows. It came from the creators of the always-enjoyable “Damages,” had some killer production value, and an absolutely stellar cast featuring Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Sissy Spacek, Sam Shephard, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz and, more recently, John Leguizamo, Andrea Riseborough, Chloe Sevigny, Beau Bridges, and more.

And yet it never quite worked as well as it should have done: the first season was moderately gripping and had some great acting (specifically from Mendelsohn), but felt like a movie plot that had become bloated to thirteen hours, and Season 2 doubled down on the problem, feeling like an epilogue, particularly as it had killed off most of the best characters.
Still, there’s one more chance to pull it back and win over doubters like ourselves: the third season, which will be the show’s last, hits Netflix at the end of the month, and a trailer for it has just arrived. Picking up in the aftermath of a shocking death at the end of Season 2, it looks to stick to the same kind of sweaty Florida noir and family drama that earlier seasons took advantage of, but hopefully with a firm end point in sight, it’ll feel more satisfying than previous runs.
