Watch: Get Terrorized By The New Trailer For 'Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension,' The Final Film In The Series

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

It’s a bit telling that Paramount doesn’t bother to list much information about "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" in marketing materials, such as who directed it or stars in it. Let’s face it, it hardly matters. The low-budget cash cow from producers Jason Blum and Oren Peli (the original ‘Paranormal Activity‘ director) is basically there to serve the purpose it has done since the franchise’s inception: to exploit the cheapness of found footage films —which are allowed to look like crap and star nobodies— and make a killing at the box office from teens who pay to see horror movies on the opening weekend.

The sixth and supposedly final installment of the series (please!) is another 3D found footage supernatural horror film directed this time by Gregory Plotkin, who served as the editor for the past four ‘Paranormal Activity’ films. Apparently, ‘The Ghost Dimension’ will answer all of the questions that the series’ mythology has posed up to this point. Riveting stuff, we’re sure.

The final film comes out on October 23rd. Let’s hope someone tries to do something inventive, original and somewhat watchable with the found footage genre soon, since otherwise it will continue to be what it is: a low overhead, low risk genre that is largely worthless. Watch the new trailer below (how’s that for enthusiasm?)
