Watch: Gina Carano & Channing Tatum Battle In First 5 Minutes From Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire'

nullWhile Steven Soderbergh still managed to assemble a great cast for his upcoming "Haywire," word around the campfire is that some actors actually turned down the film, not exactly cool with the idea of letting a woman beat them up on screen. Their loss. Turning MMA star Gina Carano into an action heroine, "Haywire" is a brisk thriller that lets you feel and see every brutal punch and kick.

The first five minutes of the movie have now popped up online to get you ready, and the clip features a wicked showdown between Carano and Channing Tatum at a diner. "People really get hit in this film and they get hurt," Soderbergh told us over the summer, adding that he purposely avoided doing the quick/cut technique so typical with many post-Jason Bourne movies. "As an audience member you want to actually see what’s going on; [that editing style is] a bit of a cheat. So it tends to bother me as a viewer when I don't know where you are in the scene because the editing and rhythm is far too clipped. I feel like sometimes [progenitors of this style] aren't giving their audience enough credit."

Well, your appetite for cleanly delivered, yet no less impactful action will be rewarded. Also starring Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas and many more, "Haywire" arrives on January 20th. Watch below.
