Robert Pattinson has the "Twilight" franchise to thank for his career, but the actor is bracingly honest as to whether his fanbase from those films will support him going forward. “They won’t go [see his post-Twilight films]. I’ve said that from the beginning," he recently told Esquire UK. "I’m trying to do stuff that will confuse an audience. When you watch a Joaquin Phoenix movie, his performance doesn’t remind you of his other performances. That element of being an actor is almost completely gone.”
And so you can see Pattinson in the latest trailer for David Cronenberg‘s "Maps To The Stars." The director’s Hollywood satire made quite a stir at Cannes, netting a Best Actress win for Julianne Moore, but if you think the movie only could’ve been made via casting the erstwhile Edward Cullen, guess again. Like Pattinson said, "Twilight’ super-fans don’t make it to the arthouse. “These films could all get made without me. It’s not like I even promote them that well,” he said. “I tell every production company I work for, I’m probably going to fuck up your entire marketing campaign.”
Watch the trailer below. "Maps To The Stars" opens in U.K. on September 26th — no domestic date yet.
