As we’ve learned from the recent James Bond movies, having the license to kill can be a terrible burden. But in the upcoming "Barely Lethal," one special agent chooses not to mope, but rather, to change her life, so she can get out of the killing game. The first trailer for the action comedy is here.
Starring Hailee Steinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Alba, Jaime King, and Sophie Turner, the film follows a girl, raised as an orphan in a school that trains kids to kill, who wants to have a normal teenage life. So she fakes her death and finds a suburban home only to realize she can’t escape her past. It’s a tricky tone and at least from the trailer, it doesn’t seem like the Kyle Newman ("Fanboys") directed film manages the balance of brutal action and coming-of-age comedy. Indeed, the film was recently slapped with an R-rating, which is being appealed, we’d wager because an R stamp will keep the movie from its intended audience.
No release date yet for this one, but watch the international trailer below.
