Ah yes, the Marvel-verse. Where movies aren’t just standalone vehicles anymore, just merely a piece in a bigger narrative puzzle, sometimes serving as middle chapters to a book whose ending has yet to be written. Okay, perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but certainly, with characters crossing over to “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and post-credit stingers as big of an event as the movie themselves, Marvel movies are constantly looking ahead. But with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” coming up, here’s a chance to look back instead.
The folks at Screen Junkies have dropped yet another Honest Trailer, this time giving “Captain America: The First Avenger” the business. And aside from the it-just-exists-to-set-up-“The-Avengers” barb, the result is pretty lightweight. From Hugo Weaving playing the villain like he does in nearly every other tentpole, to the numerous lever pulling and button pushing in the movie, to Steve Rogers’ inability to get drunk, all of it gets ribbed. Anyway, take a look below and then see the next full-length ‘Avengers’ movie preview, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” on May 4th.
