Watch: Huey Lewis & 'Weird Al' Yankovic Star In Hilarious 'American Psycho' Parody For Funny Or Die

American Psycho with Huey Lewis and Weird Al

While this might have been inevitable, it doesn’t make it any less hilarious – Huey Lewis and “Weird Al” Yankovic have teamed up for a pretty spectacular Funny or Die clip riffing on the infamous scene from “American Psycho” where Christian Bale‘s titular nut job Patrick Bateman discusses the artistic merits of Huey Lewis and the News, before driving an axe blade into Jared Leto‘s skull. In the video, Lewis fills in for Bale and Yankovic subs for Leto, with the pair chatting about the “American Psycho” movie. The results, predictably, are maniacally funny.

The two-minute clip perfectly copies both the choreography of the “American Psycho” scene (down to the plastic rain jacket and Lewis moon-walking with an axe in his hands) and the way that Bale originally delivered the lines. Lewis, an actor in his own right and a movie legend for his contributions to “Back to the Future,” eerily mimicking Bale with lines like “The movie works as both a grim examination of male vanity while also maintaining real genre thrills, maintaining these tonal shifts by putting you inside the head of its lead character,” and an absurdly chipper, “Christian Bale’s lead performance gives it a big boost!”

There’s also an amazing moment where Lewis puts on the “American Psycho” DVD and does the exact same hand gesture. “Weird Al,” for his part, has less to do but does get off a good Huey Lewis and the News joke about the newspaper on the floor. (We won’t ruin the video’s big punch line.)

Of course the whole thing ends up being a weird commercial for the 30th anniversary of Huey Lewis’ Sports album and, even stranger, for the “Weird Al” parody song “I Want A New Duck,” which is a stretch even for “Weird Al.” Then again, “American Psycho” had a big twist at the end so maybe the twist that it’s a weird commercial fits in all too perfectly.
