While we might come off as Snooty McHighFalutinPants from time-to-time, the truth is we here at The Playlist love (well done) dumb fun as much as the next person. And it’s safe to say, we’re totally going to watch the shit out of “Ride Along.”
A brand new trailer has dropped for the upcoming Ice Cube/Kevin Hart buddy comedy, and what’s not to like? A full movie giving Hart the chance to shine in a lead role is fine by us, especially when it looks like he’s making the most of every moment. It’s just a bit of a bummer to see Ice Cube sorta sticking to playing the gruff, no-nonsense dude when we’ve seen (such as in last year’s “21 Jump Street“) that he can take that persona to some decent comic places when given a chance.
The plot, in case it matters, finds the mild-mannered Hart pairing up with the tough as nails cop Cube, to prove he has what it takes to be with his sister. But of course, they are woefully, hilariously mismatched and a bunch of one liners and explosions follow. If you don’t know where we are on January 17th, we’re at the snack counter getting a bucket of popcorn and some Reese’s Pieces. Watch below.
