Having premiered at the AFI Fest last week, the verdict is still out on whether or not Sacha Gervasi's "Hitchcock" will be a major player in the awards season race. But, with the first reviews mostly positive (though not overwhelming, and we were certainly not quite taken with its charms), Fox Searchlight is off to a good start, and now a new international trailer has landed to show off a little more of what audiences can expect from the movie.
Anthony Hopkins takes on the lead role (with the assistance of some prosthetics) in the film that tracks the rocky making of "Psycho," as well the director's relationship with his wife Alma (the always winning Helen Mirren). And an almost embarrassingly good cast shows up in a variety of supporting roles (Michael Stuhlbarg should be in everything, frankly), with Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, James D'Arcy and more all participating. It looks like a lightweight trip down memory lane (don't expect the sort of hitjob "The Girl" took on Hitchcock), but whether or not that touch will translate into any awards remains to seen.
"Hitchcock" opens in limited release on November 23rd. Watch below.
