Nearing the $100 million worldwide mark as it heads into its second full week of release, it’s safe to say that audiences are loving the scares that James Wan is serving up. He makes ’em cheap, doesn’t skimp on the thrills and as a result, no matter what you think of his movies, he packs ’em in for miles around. And one of Wan’s biggest success stories is “Insidious,” made for a tiny $1.5 million and earning $97 million worldwide. So of course, a sequel beckons and Wan doesn’t seem to be changing the playbook all that much.
A new international spot for “Insidious: Chapter 2” has dropped, and while it has a lot of the same footage as the domestic trailer, there’s enough fresh material here that fans will want to click. Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne reprise their roles here and once again, something spooky is coming for them. Lots of objects moving on their own, and apparitions appearing out of nowhere, the usual trade ingredients Wan employs, and while critics may not embrace these movies, ticket buyers certainly do.
“Insidious: Chapter 2” opens on Friday, September 13th (naturally). Watch below.
