Watch: International Trailer & Poster For Roman Polanski's 'Venus In Fur' Starring Emmanuelle Seigner & Mathieu Amalric

Venus In Furs

While it might seem every major festival film from the year thus far has been accounted for, we nearly forgot about Roman Polanski‘s “Venus In Fur.” Premiering at Cannes this past spring, it has since kept a low profile, skipping Telluride, Toronto and New York altogether. But with a release in France around the corner, some more attention is now focused back on the film.

The first international trailer and poster have arrived for the movie, though hopefully you still remember your high school French. Mathieu Amalric and Mrs. Polanski, a.k.a. Emmanuelle Seigner, star in the film, an adaptation of the Broadway play by David Ives that centers on the writer/director of a new play who is immersed in the process of finding an actress for a role in his upcoming work and lands on a new talent that is seemingly the opposite of everything he’s looking for. A relatively small scale production—there are only two major roles—the movie had a mixed reception on the Croisette with our own Jessica Kiang saying that “beneath a brittle veneer of verbal dash and cleverness this stagebound adaptation has little insight to give us into anything except the sexual hubris of an aging man.”

No U.S. release date from Sundance Selects, but the picture opens on November 13th in France. Watch below.
