Watch: Is 'Orange Is The New Black' The Next Netflix Hit? Check Out The New Trailer For The Comedy Series

nullWhile they continue to keep the numbers close to the chest, it’s safe to say that Netflix‘s foray into original programming has been a success thus far. With three new shows under their belt this year — “House Of Cards,” “Hemlock Grove” and of course, the revived “Arrested Development” — they are looking to keep you hooked to their service, and next month, yet another brand new series is dropping online.

Orange is the New Black,” from “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan, will be their next shot at a show Netflix hopes everyone will be talking about, and we have to say, it does look promising. Based on the memoir by Piper Kerman, the series is led by Taylor Schilling who plays a young woman who winds up in prison after getting caught carrying a suitcase of drug money. The show will chronicle her stint in the big house and how she learns to adapt to life in there while clinging to the folks she still has on the outside.

It’s a tricky balance of comedy and drama, and while we aren’t quite sure at first, as the trailer heads into the second half, it suggests something hopefully unique and rewarding. Jason Biggs and Natasha Lyonne are among the supporting cast and you can check it out starting on July 11th when all 13 episodes land online.
