You don’t see films about magic or featuring magicians too often at the movies, and while this spring’s “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” was either very magical or funny, this summer Louis Leterrier‘s “Now You See Me” is hoping to cast a spell. It’s a summer movie without superheros or toys to back it up, but could its sleight of hand turn it into a big hit?
That will be for audiences to decide, but this opening tease of the first four minutes of the movie is a little taste of what’s one the way. The movie centers on a group of magicians who manage to rob banks in the midst of the packed Las Vegas shows, baffling authorities. And that’s the start of an adventure where we presume you’ll need to be paying close attention to keep up with the twists. But in this opening bit, the gang are all over the place, plying their trade from the more successful (Isla Fisher and Jesse Eisenberg who seem to command big audiences) to low bit hustlers (Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson), and it all culminates in Fisher dunked in tank with piranhas in a showpiece gone bad…or has it?
