J.K. Rowling has a new story to tell and it doesn’t feature wands, fantastical creatures, or Voldemort. Instead, it’s a very grown up tale, about very grown up people, who have very grown up problems. Welcome to "The Casual Vacancy." The author’s not-for-kids bestseller has now been turned into a BBC miniseries, and the first teaser is here.
Starring Rory Kinnear, Simon McBurney, and Michael Gambon (yep, Dumbledore), the story is set in a seemingly perfect small town where, of course, nothing is perfect at all. Here’s the official synopsis:
The Casual Vacancy centres on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war: rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.
The show airs later this year in the U.K. No word yet on U.S. dates or the broadcaster. Watch below. [ComingSoon]
