Jason Schwartzman has been trying his hand lately at playing unlikeable types. He reached the zenith of assholedom with his turn in Alex Ross Perry‘s "Listen Up, Phillip" and while his character in "7 Chinese Brothers" is a little rough around the edges, you’re going to want to root for him to succeed and get himself sorted out.
Co-starring Tunde Adebimpe, Stephen Root, Olympia Dukakis, and Alex Karpovsky, Bob Byington‘s film follows Larry, a slacker with attitude and a penchant for the bottle who tries to turn things around, and in his own way, make the steps to becoming a better person. It’s a minor key journey with what looks like a decent amount of charm to spare.
"7 Chinese Brothers" opens on August 28th. Watch below.
