While we weep for Jesse Pinkman, held captive by Breaking Todd and forced to keep cooking meth, the actor himself, Aaron Paul, is now making a move to the big leagues. He’s toplining his first major movie and potential franchise to boot, with “Need For Speed.” And we love you man, but we wish this looked better…
Based on the video game, and often looking like the video game, the movie finds Paul playing a street racer who partners with a rich business associate (Dominic Cooper), only to be framed by his colleague and subsequently jailed. Upon release, he joins a New York-to-Los Angeles street race to get revenge, but a bounty put on his head forces him to turn to underground, illegal races instead.
Coupled with a really ridiculous voiceover and filming that makes it look like “Fast & Furious: PS4 Drift” (thank “Act Of Valor” director Scott Waugh for that), there are two bright spots we’re clinging to: the fact that the movie co-stars both Imogen Poots and Michael Keaton. We’ll see how this turns out when it opens on March 14th.
