Watch: Katherine Heigl Basically Remakes 'The Bounty Hunter' With 'One For The Money' Trailer

Katherine Heigl has never been one to push the boundaries of her acting. Ever since “Knocked Up” — her first major big screen stint outside of her starmaking turn on “Grey’s Anatomy” — she has excelled at playing well-dressed, but frosty bitches in one film after another with a mostly successful score card. Not counting “Knocked Up,” which was sold on the Apatow brand, Heigl had a major high with the $200 million worldwide “The Ugly Truth,” and even supposed “failures” like “Killers” or “Life As We Know It” wound up making around $100 million each worldwide anyway. So clearly, there are people who love to see Heigl do her thing. But will they like her with a Jersey accent?

Which brings us to “One for the Money,” another dreadful-looking outing from the actress that will still likely do okay business if only because Hollywood still thinks making decent movies for women instead of teenage boys is a waste of time. Based on the book by Janet Evanovich, the film centers on a newly-divorced, recently laid-off 30-year-old (Heigl) in New Jersey who becomes a bounty hunter for a bail bondsman. The twist? She has to track down her former lover! Apparently, selling lingerie at Macy’s is enough of a requirement to be given a gun and legally allowed to track people. Even if you give that gun to relatives to play with at the dinner table. Anyway, this all boils down to being a more accented remake of “The Bounty Hunter” with the gender roles switched and some guy named Jason O’Mara in the co-lead role. Clearly, Heigl wants the spotlight to herself.

After shuffling a few dates around, “One for the Money” will try and take yours on January 27, 2012. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
