The long-gestating adaptation of “The Giver” may not have set the box office ablaze —a 5th place finish with $12.1 million— or won over critics, but that isn’t stopping Katie Holmes from aiming at the cheap seats again with “Miss Meadows.” The thriller’s first trailer has arrived online to entice anyone who’s ever wanted to see the ex-Mrs. Cruise wield firearms.
Running a little over a minute and a half, the trailer sells the Holmes-starring film as “Death Wish” with a sweet elementary school teacher as its lead. If you’ve ever wanted to see the “Dawson’s Creek” star twirl in a pink floral dress and gun down bad dudes, this seems to be the movie for you (read our review from Tribeca here). What exactly has set off Miss Meadows’ vigilante streak? Well, she says it’s all for the sake of the kids but maybe —as the trailer implies— there’s maybe a little personal tragedy mixed into her reasoning, a la everyone’s other favorite vigilante, Batman, a character with whom Holmes has experience.
Last year’s summer tentpole MVP James Badge Dale co-stars as the sheriff who recognizes Holmes’ school teacher for what she really is. “Miss Meadows” hits theaters on November 14th, so adjust your Oscar predictions now. Watch the trailer below. [via JoBlo]
