Marvel-heads may want to get their Netflix queues ready: the next hotly anticipated television serial from the increasingly ubiquitous comic conglomerate, the Krysten Ritter-starring “Jessica Jones,” is right around the corner. Reviews for Melissa Rosenberg’s new show have been overwhelmingly positive so far, and the series itself looks to follow in the decidedly more adult footsteps of Netflix’s gritty “Daredevil” reboot. And like “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones” promises to be a more moody, brutal affair than some of the more kid-friendly material that the studio is known for (early word is that the show tackles issues like rape, sexual trauma, PTSD and more in a number of episodes). The official trailer sure got us excited — Ritter looks terrific, as she usually is — and we now have a new batch of clips to share with you that focus on David Tennant’s villainous Kilgrave.
In an interview earlier this year with ET, Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb promised that “when [people] learn about Killgrave… and the way that David Tennant plays that character… it’s really extraordinary.” And Tennant certainly looks to be visibly relishing in the opportunity to play a baddie, at least in the snippets Netflix has made available. The clips don’t do much to give away the story, but from what we can see, the look and feel of this thing is gorgeously tense, with the same sort of noirish atmosphere that made “Daredevil” so much fun to binge-watch. Not much is known about Rosenberg and co.’s take on Killgrave for the moment — he was supposedly known as the “Purple Man” in the comic books and he has a post with Ritter’s character, and that’s about it — but if the clips we see here are anything to go by, Marvel might just have another big winner on their hands.
“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” will be available to stream in its entirety on November 20th, only on Netflix. Watch the Killgrave-centered clips below.
