After weeks of mudslinging between director Abdellatif Kechiche, and stars Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos, it has been easy to lose perspective on their actual film, “Blue Is The Warmest Color.” While the fascinatingly raw interviews have drawn the most attention in the run-up to the release of the film, let’s not forget this is Palme D’Or winner, one in which the actresses shared the prize with the director for the first time in Cannes history. It has received near universal praise, and so today comes a fresh look at the movie itself.

A new clip has surfaced from the romantic drama, and whatever happened on set, the results speak for themselves. It’s a relatively simple scene, in which the characters — Emma and Adele — share a tender kiss. But what it’s the buildup that’s so impressive, with the camera perfectly capturing the shyness and excitement of the entire act, with some impressive work by Seydoux and Exarchopoulos. And that duo are part of a film that our own Jessica Kiang noted in her review as a “transportative, truthful and sublime movie experience.”

“Blue Is The Warmest Color” opens on October 25th. Watch below.
