Watch: Lena Dunham Directs & Stars In New Yorker App Promo With Jon Hamm & Alex Karpovsky

nullIt seems that the folks in the New Yorker's marketing department want to live in a world where hipsters walk around with a rolled up copy of the latest edition of the magazine in their back pocket. Or, better yet, on their iPhone. Two years ago they enlisted Roman Coppola to direct a short film about using the New Yorker iPad app — it starred Jason Schwartzman and it was pretty awesome. And now they've raised the game a bit more, signing on a couple of high profile Emmy nominees to give everyone a fresh look at their new iPhone app.

Directed by and starring Lena Dunham, along with Jon Hamm and Alex Karpovsky (aka Ray on "Girls") this five minute spot is pretty clever, and very funny. Set up as an interview on a talk show (hosted by a clueless Hamm), the actual explanation of the app is positioned as a clip within the segment, with Dunham playing some kind of "The Devil Wears Prada" style New Yorker editor, who has to explain the app to her assistant (Karpovsky) who just doesn't get it. It's well done, enjoyable and worth a spin below. Check it out. [CoCreate]
