The summer comic movie season kicks off this weekend with “Thor” and the marketing push for the other three coming down the line — “Green Lantern,” “Captain Amerca: The First Avenger” and “X-Men: First Class” — will continue to go hard as each will hope not to get lost or forgotten in the summer mix.
Fox continues their campaign for the latter with three new character based trailers that have debuted over at MTV. Centering on Banshee, Havok and Beast, these spots have lots and lots of new footage, and while we’ve been trumping this film as being the one to beat this summer, these new reels have given us pause. The “X-Men” films have always been about drawing parallels between the mutant outsider status and how that feeling is relatable even to us regular old humans but rarely has it been illustrated so clunkily. A lot of this expository dialogue is overbearingly on-the-nose and we hope it’s not a sign of things to come.
