Like Jason Statham, Mark Wahlberg reliably brings audiences out to the theaters, which is how we get something like last year’s mid-budgeted action thriller “Contraband” or the upcoming Allen Hughes-helmed “Broken City.” While the January release date suggests yet another generic Wahlberg actioner, “Broken City” boasts Russell Crowe in a co-starring role, and three new clips have hit the web showcasing the actor sliming it up.
Wahlberg stars as an ex-cop hired by the New York City mayor (Crowe) to look into his wife’s (Catherine Zeta-Jones) infidelity, but who ends up uncovering something far more sinister. Going by the clips that have surfaced, though they are on the short side, the film seems a little low-rent. The cast does boast Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper, Jeffrey Wright and James Ransone in supporting roles, however, which we hope means that audiences will be in for something a bit unexpected.
