If we had half the organizational skills of Martin Scorsese, we’d probably get a lot more done. Even with a deadline looming to deliver his nearly three-hour ode to Wall Street debauchery “Wolf Of Wall Street,” a looming gig as the president of next month’s Marrakech Film Festival, not to mention countless producing gigs, running his World Cinema Foundation and finding the time to eat and sleep, Scorsese has just dropped a two-and-a-half-minute director’s cut of his Dolce & Gabbana ad. And it’s actually pretty lovely.
Titled “Street Of Dreams,” and better than most perfume ads by a country mile, this one stars Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey (who also features in the upcoming ‘Wolf’) as a glamorous couple taking a drive around a dreamily deserted New York City. It’s laced with pangs of history, love and regret between the two and is gorgeously lensed, and scored by the pretty tune “Il Cielo Una Stanza” by Mina. While we’re not gonna buy whatever it is this is selling, we’ll gladly watch this little short again.
Meanwhile, “Wolf Of Wall Street” has picked up its first award, of what could be many. The Inspiration Room notes the movie has won the Grand Key Art Award for film promotion for its first, Kanye West-powered trailer. It’s certainly one of the more memorable spots of the year so can’t argue with it there. Check out both the ad and the trailer below.
