All right, all right, all right… Matthew McConaughey is ready to wow the critics again in 2013, after spending last year proving to everyone he was more than just a pretty rom-com face. But will he get the hardware this time to go with the acclaim? Well, he’s taking on the double duty of both a physical transformation and playing a man stricken with AIDS in “Dallas Buyer’s Club,” with the first trailer now landing online.

The spot sells the fact that this won’t be heavy drama as you might expect, but something a bit more loose. Jean-Marc Vallee (“C.R.A.Z.Y.,” “The Young Victoria“) directs the true life story about a man stricken with AIDS, and given 30 days to live, who beats expectations, and slings unapproved, life-saving drugs to others suffering from the disease. Jared Leto is his transvestite partner in crime, with Jennifer Garner as the concerned doctor caring for Ron. As far as first impressions go, this one is subverting expectations a bit, which is always a good thing.

Is Oscar calling for McConaughey? Is Leto also one to keep an eye out for? Watch below. “Dallas Buyers Club” opens on November 1st.
