If making a movie about a celebrated fashion icon exists merely as an excuse to dress up beautiful people in beautiful clothes, then "Saint Laurent" has that base covered. You can judge for yourself whether the film possesses other merits via the first U.S. trailer for the film.
Directed by Bertrand Bonello ("House Of Tolerance," "The Pornographer") and starring Gaspard Ulliel, Lea Seydoux and Jeremie Renier, the film tracks the life and inspirations of the designer who forever changed the world of haute couture. But the movie doesn’t quite fit, with Jessica Kiang noting that it "emerges as a failed attempt at visualizing artistic soul."
"Saint Laurent" breaks out the tape measure on May 8th. Watch below.
