This year, you’re getting spy movies in a variety of flavors. If you like them made for teenage boys, you’ve already been served "Kingsman: The Secret Service." Later this year, 007 will keep things dour with "Spectre," while Tom Cruise hopes to get your blood pumping with "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation." But coming before those films is the simply-titled "Spy," with Melissa McCarthy showing it’s not just chiseled dudes who can save the world.
A new trailer has dropped for the spoof which brings together an eager ensemble — Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Miranda Hart, and Jude Law — for the Paul Feig-directed movie that follows an unassuming CIA agent, more used to office work than taking out bad guys, who is suddenly thrust into the world of international espionage. And it’s an effort that our critic at SXSW called "an uneven but undeniably entertaining romp."
"Spy" opens on June 5th. Watch below.
