“Shakespeare is a genius. The one thing I kept saying to Justin [Kurzel] is, ‘If we can inspire the kids, that would be wonderful.’ " Michael Fassbender recently told the Daily Record about his aspirations for "Macbeth." “I hope 15-year-olds who are doing it as a part of their exams see the movie and find fresh and new things and see that it’s not so far removed.”
Certainly, our hope is that audiences beyond teens are inspired by this bold new take on the classic tale, one that marries a terrific cast—led by Fassbender and Marion Cotillard—with an up and coming director, Justin Kurzel, who has so earned the trust of his two stars they’re joining him on the blockbuster "Assassin’s Creed." Now that’s confidence.
With the film set open in the U.K. this week, Film4 has dropped a nice five minute featurette featuring Fassbender, Cotillard, and Kurzel plus there’s a handful of new images and more. Check it all about below and see "Macbeth" stateside when it opens on December 4th.
