We’re only a few months away from the fall festival circuit and awards season talk starting in earnest, but we’ve already gazed into our crystal ball a bit prematurely and have named Michael Fassbender as a possible contender for Best Actor. Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.
Danny Boyle directs the script by Aaron Sorkin that will let the drama unfold across the product launches of the Mac, NeXT, and iPod in 1984, 1997, and 2001, respectively. It’s an interesting approach, one that will track Jobs from an early career high, to his time spent in exile from the company he started, before returning and eventually unveiling the device that changed both the computer and music industry. It’s one heckuva teaser overall and we can’t wait to see more.
Co-starring Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels, Katherine Waterston, and Michael Stuhlbarg, "Steve Jobs" opens on October 9th.
