Watch: Michel Gondry & Bjork To Go Outer Space For 'Crystalline' Video

While their developing 3D project has unfortunately gone the way of the dodo bird, longtime collaborators director Michel Gondry and Icelandic songbird Bjork have still found something to work on together, the video for the debut single of her forthcoming album, “Crystalline.”

While it’s certainly not the best Gondry/Bjork collaboration (that prize goes to “Bachelorette” or “Isobel”) it does find the director doing his usual lo-fi thing, this time heading to the moon while an interstellar Guðmundsdóttir sings about the growth of planets or something. It’s certainly very busy, with lots of squiggles and stop motion work, but we think there was a missed opportunity at the end of the song when it goes all drum and bass crazy (seriously) to do something grander or at least even more bizarre. Regardless, it’s definitely worth watching.

Biophilia an interactive “app” album or something arrives on September 27th and you can buy it as a plain old physical CD, digitally with all kinds of extra gizmos or if you want to pledge your allegiance to all things Bjork there is a mega $800 dollar version of the album that comes in an “oak-hinged lid case, consists of the Biophilia Manual along with 10 chrome-plated tuning forks, silkscreened on one face in 10 different colors, stamped at the back, and presented in a flocked tray.” [via HitFix]
