Watch: Mo' Money, Mo' Problems In New Trailer For 'A Single Shot' Starring Sam Rockwell & William H. Macy

A Single Shot Sam Rockwell

A hunting accident that leaves a young woman dead and the discovery of a box of cash. What could possibly go wrong? As you might expect, a lot, if that simple premise sets off a chain of events in the upcoming thriller “A Single Shot.”

A pretty solid ensemble is lined up for this one with Sam Rockwell, Jeffrey Wright, Jason Isaacs, William H. Macy, Melissa Leo, Kelly Reilly and Ophelia Lovibond all starring in the tale of a hunter who accidentally shoots a teenage girl and then discovers a small fortune while trying to dispose of her body. But when killers come looking for the cash, he’s forced to defend his life and family.

The film is an adaptation of the book by Matthew F. Jones and is directed by David M. Rosenthal (“Janie Jones“), and while the concept sounds pretty nifty, we weren’t all that impressed when we saw the movie in Berlin, with our own Jessica Kiang saying it “does not add up to anywhere near the sum of its parts, and as individually impressive as any of those parts might be (Rockwell), we are left with a film that if not quite a Frankenstein’s monster, is certainly patchworky.”

“A Single Shot” hits theaters on September 20th.
