With “Guardians Of The Galaxy” out in the world as of today, the next big blockbuster (unless you count “King Arthur,” which, well…) is “Alien: Covenant,” and as such, the promotional machinery for Ridley Scott’s space epic is gearing up in a big way. Reviews are expected to drop tomorrow, and on top of the grisly clip from yesterday, another has arrived, one that’s a little more sedate, at least to begin with.

Whereas yesterday’s glimpse focused on supporting characters, the new clip introduces the film’s heroine, Daniels, played by “Inherent Vice” and “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” star Katherine Waterston. The twist here is that the new clips is, like much of the marketing, at least in part not from the film itself, mixing extra footage shot by Ridley Scott’s son Luke, in which Waterston interacts with the ship’s computer, MUTHUR (pronounced ‘mother’) with more action-packed stuff from the movie seemingly from the movie itself, including a little glimpse of everyone’s favorite xenomorph.
Written by John Logan and Dante Harper from a story by Michael Green and Jack Paglen, the movie sees Waterston joined by Michael Fassbender (in dual roles as androids Walter and David), Billy Crudup, James Franco, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce. It opens on May 12th internationally, and May 19th in the U.S.
