“Welcome To The Punch” feels like it’s been a long time coming, but it finally hits cinemas in the UK on March 15th, before debuting 12 days later in the US on March 27th. Eran Creevy’s follow-up to his excellent micro-budget “Shifty” is a crime thriller in the vein of “Infernal Affairs,” shot in the style of Tony Scott, and stars an impressive British cast lead by James McAvoy and Mark Strong. With those release dates fast approaching we’ve got a new clip and a new featurette courtesy of Empire and Total Film.
The featurette is a behind the scenes job with director, producers, McAvoy and Strong talking us through clips from the movie. The new clip, meanwhile (parts of which also pop up in the featurette), shows Mark Strong receiving a troubling call from his son – a call that sets the main plot of the movie in motion.
“Shifty” was a great calling card for Creevy, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that this will see him making good on the potential he showed there. He’s certainly got a great cast lined up (the impressive British acting talent extends throughout the cast, from the biggest roles to some of the smallest), and with Ridley Scott producing we’re expecting something with some visual gloss too. We’ll find out for sure before long…
