Watch: New Clip From 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Enters The Playroom; Filmmakers & Author Battled Over Movie's Content

Fifty Shades Of GreyToday comes yet another clip from "Fifty Shades Of Grey," one that enters Christian’s famed playroom. No, it does not contain an X-box, but this setting proved to be a battleground between the filmmakers and author E.L. James when it came to bringing to best-selling novel to the big screen. In the book, Anastasia gradually looks at all of Christian’s sex things in his red room of pain, one by one. But on film, that had to be communicated quite differently.

"…in a movie we don’t have time to let it play out at that kind of pace,” producer Michael De Luca told Vanity Fair. “We talked a lot with Erika about the design, because she had such a specific vision in her mind of what it should look like…. But it needed to look a certain way so it could have impact visually on-screen the way it had impact in your mind as a reader in the book. It just was different in how it needed to be presented.”

But even so, James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson clashed over the approach to the movie. “I kept trying to remind myself that they hired me for a reason. Some people said to me, ‘I’m surprised you haven’t quit.’ I was like, ‘Why would you think I’d quit?’ I never quit anything. Not without a fight,” Taylor-Johnson said candidly. “We battled all the way through. She’d say the same. There were tough times and revelatory times. There were sparring contests. It was definitely not an easy process, but that doesn’t mean to say that it didn’t come out the right way.” We’ll soon see.

"Fifty Shades Of Grey" opens on February 13th, except for Malaysia, where it has been banned because it is more like "pornography than a movie." For some people, that would be an endorsement.
