The things one expects from “Kick-Ass 2” are fairly simple: foul language, over-the-top violence and a firm embrace of the R-rating. But a promo video by boy band group Union J? Perhaps there’s some crossover demographic we’re just not aware of, but this is certainly a bit odd…
Anyway, the plastic, handsomeness of these anonymous pop warblers for nine year-olds is being used to get tweens to sneak into this movie we guess, and it might just be the weirdest big of movie/music synergy this summer. Maybe it’s meant to be super ironic? Meanwhile, a clip from the film finds Kick-Ass trying to recruit Hit Girl to be his sidekick, a tough task given she’s more than happy to work alone.
