Never count out Cate Blanchett. With two Oscars on her mantle from six nominations, she’s one of the most respected actors in the game and a force to be reckoned with during the awards season. While the reviews for "Truth" aren’t all raves, she could still very much be a contender for this picture, not to mention that she’s pretty much a lock for her work in "Carol."
James Vanderbilt (screenwriter of David Fincher‘s "Zodiac") makes his directorial debut with the journalism drama that follows the fallout of "60 Minutes" reporter Mary Mapes 2004 story on George W. Bush‘s questionable military record that saw him avoid serving in Vietnam. Dan Rather (played by Robert Redford) presented to the piece to the American public, and to put it bluntly, all hell broke loose. The movie provides a look at the integrity of journalism as it comes up against the scrutiny of the media and general public.
"Truth" opens on Friday and below you’ll find two clips from the film, lots of new images, plus a 10-minute talk with Vanderbilt, Blanchett, Redford, and co-star Dennis Quaid.
