While David Lynch might be concerned that the current cinematic climate doesn’t have room from distinctive filmmakers like him, he’s found other creative outlets for his work behind the camera. He’s directed ads for his own coffee line, webcasts and a bumper for the Viennale festival, but that’s when he’s not meditating or embarking on a music career. And now comes a music video for none other than Nine Inch Nails.
The latest from Trent Reznor’s band is “Came Back Haunted,” and Lynch directs the video which warns you off the top that it may you leave you on the floor, frothing at the mouth. And yes it’s Lynch-ian, with grey clouds, papier maché (we think), lightning bolts, strobing lights and more. Of course, this is a reunion of sorts, as Reznor produced the soundtrack and contributed original music to “Lost Highway” way back when Lynch was actually making movies. But hey, it’s always nice to see a favor returned. NIN’s new album Hesitation Marks is out on September 3rd, while Lynch’s own musical adventure The Big Dream drops July 16th. Watch below. [AV Club]
