We’ll know in a few days if our prediction that “The Normal Heart” will be hitting the Cannes Film Festival is accurate, but until then, a new teaser for the HBO film is here.
The drama is based on the acclaimed play by Larry Kramer, chronicling the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s as gay activists and concerned doctors fought to expose the truth about the burgeoning epidemic. And it’s a wrenching tale, with Mark Ruffalo’s line, “I am trying understand why nobody gives a shit, now we’re dying,” resonating pretty hard. Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch (along with a questionable wig) and Jim Parsons co-star with Ryan Murphy behind the camera.
