There’s the Brian Wilson known as the pop music genius who cemented his legendary status with the Beach Boys‘ Pet Sounds. And then there’s the less well-known Wilson, lost in the ’80s and caught in the ruthless grip of his therapist Dr. Eugene Landy. Both are represented in the biopic "Love & Mercy," and a new trailer is here.
Paul Dano and John Cusack respectively play the younger and older Wilsons in a film spanning his artistic highs, creative ambitions, burnout and lost year. Directed by Bill Pohlad and penned by Oren Moverman ("Rampart," "The Messenger"), the movie is one we described as having "plenty of love and mercy for its subject, but also some edginess, in what is a fascinating look at one of popular music’s most important and influential songwriters."
"Love & Mercy" opens on June 5th. Watch below.
