Watch: New Trailer For 'Elvis & Nixon' Starring Kevin Spacey As Tricky Dick & Michael Shannon As The King Of Rock And Roll

Elvis & Nixon"This is a comedy of juxtaposition of the coolest guy on the planet and the Nixon administration, which is working on a very different register. It’s very comic when they come together," director Liza Johnson promises USA Today about her upcoming "Elvis & Nixon." And indeed, it tells a story that’s just too odd to fake: the real-life White House meeting between President Richard Nixon and Elvis Presley.

We’ve seen Kevin Spacey be presidential and then some in "House Of Cards," but the real point of interest in this movie is Michael Shannon taking the part of The King Of Rock & Roll. And according to Johnson, the actor puts his mark on the material.

"Michael is one of the great actors of his generation and he takes this out of the tradition of Elvis imitators," Johnson said. "I knew that Michael would be able to appreciate the depth of character that happens to Elvis in the course of this movie. This was a serious ambition on Elvis’ part. He is this rock-and-roll rebel, yet he has this passionate drive to meet with the main authority of the country."

Co-starring Colin Hanks, Johnny Knoxville, Sky Ferreira, Tracy LettsEvan Peters, and Alex Pettyfer, "Elvis & Nixon" opens on April 22nd. Watch the new trailer below.
