It has been over two decades since N.W.A. dropped Straight Outta Compton into stores during the summer of 1988, and changed the face of hip hop forever. The album took mainstream America unblinkingly into the hard realities of inner city life, and now the story of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren is coming to the big screen.
A new trailer for "Straight Outta Compton" has arrived and it looks like the summer of 2015 is going to get a hip hop wake up call as well. F. Gary Gray directs the film starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and Paul Giamatti about the five rappers who both excited and outraged a nation. This looks like it’s getting the tone just right and it looks like one of the biggest movies of the summer will have people blowing up the mic instead of supervillains.
"Straight Outta Compton" arrives on August 14th. Watch below.
