With Floyd Mayweather packing in audiences, boxing is back in a big way, and the line-up at multiplexes reflects that: we’ve already had “Southpaw” this year, and next year will see both Miles Teller and Edgar Ramirez donning the gloves and shorts. But undoubtedly the highest profile is “Creed,” which continues the biggest and longest-running series in the genre: “Rocky.”
As the title might suggest, the focus has shifted in the new film from Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”). The central character is Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the talented but reckless son of Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers in the earlier films), with Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky now working as his trainer who has been stricken by cancer.
Buzz has been building on the picture for a while, and with the release now only a few months off, Warner Bros has debuted a new trailer for the movie, which also stars Tessa Thompson, Tony Bellew, Graham McTavish, Phylicia Rashād and Wood Harris. Could it be a contender? Check the trailer out below, and find out when the movie opens on November 25th.
