Watch: New Trailer For WWII Survival Saga 'Unbroken' Directed By Angelina Jolie

Unbroken"I wasn’t really looking for something of this size," Angelina Jolie told the LA Times earlier this year about taking on "Unbroken" for her sophomore directorial feature. "But the way Laura [Hillenbrand] writes about him is the way I like to read about people. It was like I was witnessing the birth of a man — it was something I wanted to tell my sons about."

And the "him" in question is Louis Zamperini, and his story is rather incredible. Co-scripted by the Coen Brothers, and based on a true story, this awards season drama tells the story of the former Olympian Zamperini  (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. You can practically see the light of Oscar reflecting off this thing. And Universal believe they’ve got a contender here too, starting the promo train for this all the way back during the Winter Olympics, and now dropping a new trailer months before release.

Co-starring Domhnall Gleeson, Garrett Hedlund, Finn Wittrock, John Magaro, Alex Russell and Miyavi, "Unbroken" opens on Christmas Day.
