A decade has passed since “Garden State,” but Zach Braff still loves indie music and soundtracking lifechanging moments. He’s back with his sophomore feature, “Wish I Was Here,” and following The Shins-powered teaser, a brand new full-length trailer is here to deliver your requisite amount of quirk for the week.
Joey King, Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Josh Gad and Ashley Green co-star in this one that centers on thirtysomething Aidan Bloom who has to struggle with financial woes, a failing acting career, shifting family dynamics and more seemingly all at once. Essentially, it looks like a middle-age-ish coming-of-age story that is very Braff-ian, which means you likely already know if you’ll dig this or not. Or you can check out our review from Sundance, which notes that though you “may admire the film for its fearlessness (any film that interrupts a scene of furries fucking for a serious, dramatic moment is to be admired), sincerity alone cannot save it.”
“Wish I Was Here” opens in New York and Los Angeles on July 18th, expanding to more cities on July 25th and August 1st.
